Pediatric Sedation Dentistry for North Ogden and Harrisville, UT
One of the greatest challenges that pediatric dentists can face during treatments is squirmy children. Some children don’t like going to the dentist and can have anxiety and fear when facing procedures like tooth fillings or even simple cleanings. At Castle Creek Pediatric Dentistry, we offer sedation dentistry techniques to help your children.
Nitrous Oxide for Dental Sedation
Nitrous oxide is the most commonly known sedation dentistry method. Nitrous oxide has been successfully used for decades. You may know this gas as “laughing gas.” This gas does not stir up giggles, but does help your children feel relaxed during the dental visit.
Your children will still be awake and aware during the procedure. Our team will administer the nitrous oxide with a mask attached to the child’s nose. With this mask secure on their face, the child will receive a mix of oxygen and nitrous oxide. This sedation treatment works almost instantly and effects wear off rather quickly.
Oral Dental Sedation
For more difficult procedures that will require more of our dentist’s care, we may use oral sedation. When your child uses the oral sedation method, it requires that your child fast the morning of the procedure and your child must be free of any respiratory symptoms for at least two weeks before the dental procedure. With all of our sedation dentistry options, we ask that two adults be present.
We have experience with children from North Ogden, Ogden, Pleasantview, Harrisville and beyond. We don’t care whether your child is one year old or 12, and our certified pediatric dentist, Dr. Simkins is an expert in helping children with special needs.
